Tourism

By 1974 Indian Government decided to open Leh Ladakh region for foreign travellers/tourists. It encouraged economical growth and its influence reflected within few years as this historical place got recognised by UNESCO for its traditional and traditional identity. The Buddhist influence over the entire region is evident with many monasteries still following hundreds of years of spiritual traditions.

  Approach

Leh is approachable by Air from Chandigarh or New Delhi. By road it has a distance of 430 Kms from Srinagar or 474 Kms from Manali. The Manali - Leh route is much preferred because of its safety as it lies in Himachal Pradesh, another peaceful hill province in north India. While on journey, most of tourists halt at Manali which serves as a base for ongoing travellers towards Leh. Adventure enthusiasts can hire bikes from Manali or a Jeep to have a complete Trans Himalayan Adventure experience.

Leh - An international tourism destination in Indian Himalayas with it's unique history, culture and tourism potential has been inspiring travellers across the globe.  The town situated at a height of 3505 meters (approx.)   lies towards the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir province in India as an official capital of Ladakh region. 

 

 

Historical 
The history of Leh reflects the dynasty of King Sengge Namgyal who ruled entire Leh Ladakh region during during 17th century shifted his court of governance from Shey to Leh. With princely  influence Leh became the prominent town as regional capital emerging as important markets on the Silk Route. Leh's historical identity has influence of trading partnerships from Yarkand, Kashgar, Srinagar & Tibet regions.
